MasterChef on Wheels, The Rocks

Posted on Updated on

To some Instagram followers may be aware of a photo I uploaded specifically about MasterChef Food Truck adventure not so long ago near The Rocks in Sydney one fine afternoon.  I just happened to of decided to walk around that area and was feeling somewhat hungry along the way. I guess I wanted to satisfy that empty feeling and it was such amusement that MasterChef truck and I had cross path. It was such an unplanned day that lead to me winning meals for two at MasterChef food truck days later.

Like every food porn bloggers, once our meals are served right in front of us whether it be piping hot or icy cold we’d grab any camera gadget we have and *click click click* *snap snap snap*. It’s like our fingers are like remote controls, when you tune into a TV show you and you constantly keep clicking every possible channel, hoping there’s at least one channel you can stick to and finally you found that channel, your relieved. Well that’s the feeling that I had, I’d find every possible angle, scene and colour to match one perfect photo to upload on Instagram.

Just so happened Eat Art Food Truck found my photo and entered me in the competition resulting me to win.  So in other words apparently there was a photo competition on Eat Art Food that I was unaware of ….and I just so happened to have won. LOL!

It’s pretty fascinating to see a truck that unravels glorious  hot food and it’s not your regular food truck where they sell fries and corn dogs like at the carnivals. It’s a pop up truck with a lot of silver kitchen appliances inside that tiny truck of their’s. Instantly reminded me of transformers but in kitchen appliances. Their meals looked like any fancy restaurant dishes, except for a more affordable price. Best of all you can wander around from opera house to harbour bridge and sit on the green grass to enjoy your meal at no extra cost.

Looking at their menu I was teary that their Warm Chocolate Cake ($10) had sold out, but I guess this meant it must of been one hell of a chocolate cake to be sold out before the end of their day.

Reading the word “crispy” my head instantly nodded itself without me knowing. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of presentation but brace yourself pork lovers! It was a pork belly with a twist. Incredible flavours not just the savoury side but also the sweetness from the juicy braised grapes. Beneath the pillowed slices of pork belly was the roasted root vegetables, which convinced me to eat more vegetables. If only I knew how to cook my vegetables in that method, I wouldn’t be worrying about the topic cholesterol. The warm salad of cavelo nero was tangy that gave a kick to my tastebuds.

And who can forget … the CRACKLING! O-M-G I was in a mystical place. It felt like rainbows and butterflies every single freaken bite. And during the time I was taking food porn photos, that pork smelt incredibly porky!

What a fabulous surprise! That pork looks divine, and I too would have lamented the lack of chocolate cake which would have been such a nice way to finish off lunch 🙂

Thanks Jas! I’m glad that my belly was rumbling at the time and the crackling pork was still available. Finger’s crossed they still have the chocolate cake 🙂
