Charlie & Co Burgers- Burger Battling Time

Posted on Updated on

Are you craving a burger big time? Located inside Westfield Sydney’s food court, I dropped by at Charlie & Co Burgers appetizing burger joint during the busiest human traffic hour, “lunch time”. It was very generous of Charlie & Co Burgers to not just invite me but also bring 3 FRIENDS along. I managed to find only 2 because soft toys don’t count as humans. Teehee.  I was bouncing around like I was on a jumping castle imagining all the possibilities of biting every burger of theirs. It was a tough decision to decide what to order and whilst I was in a pretty heavy queue, it gave me a few more minutes to make our minds up.

So I arrived at the counter and told the lady I was here and guess what? She attentively directed me to my very own seating area with my name on it. Yes, I was a little bit childish because my name was on it.  😀 😀

With every burger or fries, it is common to order THE HARD STUFF section in Charlie & Co Burger’s menu. There is no point having a diet soda with all that delicious fat happening on the plate!!

Try Little Creatures Bright Ale ($8.50) – An intense blend of sunshine in a bottle that glows with bright golden Vienna and Cara malts, also local pale malts. With fruity aromas of delicious passionfruit and hint of pineapple. The result of this ale is absolutely screaming summer. For a more bitter beverage, the Little Creatures Pilsner ($8.50) brings a crisp classic bitterness that allows you to enjoy an extended fermentation period by adding the finest secret ingredients. And if the above drinks don’t interest you, then a classic glass bottle of fizzy Coke ($4) is a true expression of top pick beverage for everyone.

If you’re a carnivore kind of person, then the New Yorker Burger ($16) obviously knows how to show off a perfectly cooked American steak burger.  This includes a massive thick piece of chargrilled grass fed sirloin steak, melted slice of aged cheddar, thick spaghetti ringlets of caramelised onions for tartness, Charlie’s signature tomato sauce and American mustard.

That’s right, a STEAK in between a bun.

There seems to be some kind of Parmesan and truffle fries ($8) phase going on at the moment and I had to give this a go to see what the truffle fuss was on about. The potato, parmesan and truffle run and swirl together, amplifying each other’s flavour. The verdict…these fries bound to please the most demanding of the tastebuds. There’s so much FRIED GOODNESS, you’ll lick your bowl clean.

If you’d like to add create a more extreme flavour and alluring aromas then smother the truffle fries in Charlie’s signature tomato sauce for ($1) or Aioli ($1) . It creates a super hectic fries kind of moment in your mouth.

Instantly fell in love with these fries

There are plenty of fish in the sea…so get some omega 3 in your belly and order the Fish of the day burger ($16) – Combined with chargrilled fish of the day with mixed green leaf lettuce, slices of  pickled gherkins and aioli. Oh that fresh filet was a tad bland but a nice texture of flakes of the fish. A healthy pile of greens under a perfectly cooked filet and gherkins and aioli left something to be desired in this burger.

Woah, how shiny and buttery the brioche buns look?

Charlie & Co Burger (5)

Oh yeah, a lot of omega 3 is in this burger.

What could be more delicious than the Mighty Charlie Burger ($16)? Served with premium Wagyu patty with a mountain of aged cheddar, Charlie’s signature tomato sauce, mixed leaf lettuce, ripened tomato, and free-range egg, stripes of crispy prime back bacon, caramelised onions and aioli. This is a burger that attracts ALL MEAT-LOVERS attention. The nice fluffy brioche buns are just soft and not overwhelmingly buttery. It sure can soak up a lot of flavours from the sauce, patty and lettuce. The patty is fairly reasonable in flavour. THAT BACON isn’t too salty and very very crisp. With the nicely cooked gooey yolk, I must add brownie points to this meal.

Finally understand why they call it Almighty Charlie Burger. It’s ALMIGHTY alright.

Perfect amount of ingredients inside this burger.

Did I mention…upon first grab of Charlie & Co Burger, you may find your ingredients desiring to escape. But it’s a challenge between putting down the burger to savour the dish or continue eating and figure out the rest later.

To fully enjoy every burger that Charlie & Co Burgers offer requires BIGGER HANDS. I struggled holding every burger I touched. Charlie & Co Burgers are ENOURMOUS and VERY filling. I don’t think I saw any one around me not struggling to hold their burgers.  No offence to the boys out there.

Overall I left this burger joint with a satisfying and filling tummy. I recommend the Mighty Charlie Burger because it was freaking tasty, though it kinda collapsed onto the plate with the amount of juices a flowing but I think that’s what I call a real burger joint that generously gives.

There’s so many great places popping up and I’m an avid burger lover……your pics are making my stomach rumble already Vanny. Not sure if it would be the New York Steak or the Almighty Charlie burger……reasons to go back a couple times then.

I think the best thing to come to the hamburger scene in Sydney is the Brioche Bun.

Added to the “need-to-eat-at” list, thanks 🙂

Ah I am quite addicted to their truffle and parmesan fries! Though they have skimped slightly on the truffle oil since they opened at the beginning which makes me sad 😦 But tasty they still are!

You should perhaps try it again. Apparently they’re under new management. It’s been a while I haven’t heard of $2 hamburgers. Oh, how I miss purchasing chips at the station. Wherever did they go?! 😛
