La Renaissance – A Range of Birthday Cakes

Posted on Updated on

So like it’s been a while since I last posted. Forgive me for ignoring Nessy Eater but I’ve gone wild with work and intense summer session uni rather than out and food hunting. I know I know, you’re probably wondering what have I been eating for the last few days? Well, THANKS to Instagram , this can give you an idea of the last few days of my whereabouts. Now this week I made it my mission to head down to La Renaissance Patisserie and Café located in The Rocks so I could get my hands on their exquisite French cakes that everyone at work has been teasing me about. Plus it was MY BIRTHDAY! I didn’t want to celebrate my special day without a few cakes. Teehee. Yeah, CAKESSSS! You heard me.

You must be dying to read more about La Renaissance Signature Range individual cakes. Go on, keep feasting your eyes …

It is no surprise what Cuisinier Pierre Charkos and his wife Sally can create over a period of ten years. With the love of exquisite French food, La Renaissance is true to French quality in all things sweet. Though in 2005,  Cuisinier Pierre Charkos died due to illness, however his legacy still remains today with his sons. Without losing track of the old classic recipes, exciting new ideas will soon be hand-crafted.

I knew I HAD to get the Tranche Chocolat (Take Away $6.50) as you may know I am a HUGE CHOCOLATE FANATIC and it is fit for the birthday queen. Layers of chocolate sponge cake soaked with milk chocolate ganache and glazed with Valrhona ganache cream. An absolutely spectacular French classic that makes it worth the calories!

For those who prefer to spoil themselves with a dreamy, creamy dessert that always delights then Lemon Cheesecake (Take Away $5.50) is a great pick for your tummy. Light and creamy with hint of tangy lemon flavours with a buttery base that crumbles. This cake appears to look ordinary but hey I’ll let you in on a secret that you’ll relish every spoonful.

Often my eyes sometimes can’t help but stare at bright colours, especially when you can eat it as well. We picked Goya (Take Away $9) – A Raspberry mousse encasing a passionfruit cremeux with sliced almond nougatine topped with fresh mixed berries. While I enjoyed the shiny glazed tangy raspberry compote and macron glued on opposite sides, I managed to become a BIG FAN on the almond pieces tucked inside the fluffy mousse mainly because with the crunchiness and creamy consistency, it creates a long sweet marriage with every serving.

So I heard it’s mango season and my stomach was rumbling for the Mango Mousseline (Take Away $9) – It is possible the edges are gold flakes and it was enough to share around. An epic flavour of coconut cream centre with crunchy peanut nougatine also pain de gènes, an almond cake that is moist, sweet, subtle, and overall almondy.

To further tempt your taste buds, Larme de Gaugin (Take Away $7.50) an exotic shaped tear-drop jonconde cake that is ridiculously light and smooth with mixed berry mousse and layered with finished glazed mixed berries. You have to experience this unforgettable combination of flavours and textures.

La Renaissance offers a variety of very sophisticated individual dessert cakes with a sweet little price tag. However to celebrate special occasions with a fair few of sweets, then you must stop by here some time.

Annnnnnd with a box of long stemmed Roses Only flowers, it was enough to wake me up to REALISE it was my birthday. Thanks 😀
